Massachusetts native Rabbi Fred Hyman, in assuming the pulpit of Congregation Kodimoh in Springfield, has returned home. Born in Boston, Rabbi Hyman attended Maimonides School, studied at Yeshivat Hakotel in Jerusalem, Israel and graduated from Brandies University with a B.A. in Philosophy.

Rabbi Hyman studied in RIETS-Yeshiva University for six years from where he received his ordination. To compliment his rabbinic studies, Rabbi Hyman took graduate classes in Bible, Jewish Philosophy and Jewish Education. As a student, rabbi Hyman served congregations in White Plains, NY, Westport, CT and Manhattan. He was among the first recipients of the prestigious Wexner Graduate Fellowship awards that provided extensive leadership training.

For 10 years, Rabbi Hyman was the associate Rabbi at Park East Synagogue, a prominent, modern Orthodox Congregation on the Upper East Side of New York with 700 families. He brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of synagogue and community life. In just a short time at Kodimoh, he has already infused warmth, humor, spirit and joy into congregation.

In sermons and classes, Rabbi Hyman loves to emphasize the precepts of holiness, ethics and spiritual maturity. He is committed to adherence to Halacha and its values.

His vision is to help foster a community based on the three pillars of Torah-study, Avodah-Service and Gemilat Chasadim-Acts of Loving Kindness, and for the synagogue to fulfill its mandate as a Bet Knesset-House of Assembly, Bet Tefillah-House of Prayer and Bet Midrash-House of study.
