People In The News

Many of us at Kodimoh take certain
things for granted. We know that someone is always checking our building to make
sure everything is functioning: air conditioning, heat; we know that someone is
always checking that the kitchen is stocked and that our minyan breakfasts are
just so. We know that someone is collecting funds either for minyans or for some
special need that a congregant has. We know that we can always count on him for
a great bit of humor each and every morning even when he is not quite up to
snuff. We can always count on Al Greenfeld for anything that Kodimoh needs. This
man’s heart is bonded in a very special way to our shul. Over the last couple of
years, I have gotten to know Al well. I can always count on him for advice; and,
even more importantly, on his friendship. When you see Al, please say thank you.
He truly is a mensch. I, for one, feel privileged to even know him.
Beverly
Hirschhorn—sometimes she is so quiet we forget that she is there. What a
terrific lady she is. She single-handedly puts together our Dr. Louis Izenstein
Memorial Lecture and our Rabbi Alex and Dr. Bella Weisfogel Scholar-In-Residence
Weekend. She interviews and researches the speakers, does all the publicity,
runs around town putting up posters and flyers, and even organizes the event
including the reception. On top of all that, she makes a million calls to have
these events as successful as possible. All of this is done in a quiet way. I
want to thank Beverly for her total commitment to Congregation Kodimoh and for
all her efforts in bringing to all of us in the Jewish Community these
exceptional education programs. When you see this gracious lady, please don’t
forget to say thank you.
